If you love Charlie Brown, if you love Vince Guaraldi, if you love Al Jarreau, if you love ice skating, if you love snowflakes in the air, if you love happiness and cheer, if you love nostalgia, if you love any permutation of items on this list, if you are not offended by run-on sentences, if you need a little mid-week lift – then you will love this.
The Christmas Song
The weather has finally turned chilly, so it’s an excellent day to wrap ourselves in Al Jarreau’s soothing vocals.
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
I would have thought that there would be many Della Reese Christmas selections from which to choose, but this was the only one I could find. A lovely lady with a lovely voice to start our week out right.
Silent Night
I like to post religious carols on Sundays, so here’s Fats Domino once again with a perfectly lovely version of Silent Night, rendered yet more enjoyable by the inclusion of a plethora of Christmas kitten illustrations.
I Told Santa Claus
Another delightful original song in a completely different mood for your weekend entertainment.
Christmas Is a Special Day
Happy December. Happy Friday.
Still a Favorite
This hymn by Eleanor Farjeon, one of my favorites, is set to a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune and was published in 1931 as a hymn to give thanks for each day. Forty years later, Cat Stevens released his beautiful rendition.
The flower is fittingly named Glory Bush. Photo taken in La Fortuna, Costa Rica, June 2014.
Thankful for Small Neighborhood Businesses
On Small Business Saturday, I am happy to live in the same neighborhood as Angelina’s Cafe, Cycle Depot, Double D Market, Shop Girl and West Main Pizza.
Thankful for Justice
Today I am thankful that the Colorado Springs Police Department has arrested the man who hit us. One month and one day since he was featured on Pikes Peak Area Crime Stoppers Featured Fugitives; one month and two days after he hit us and fled the scene.
