This song has some real nostalgia associated with it. Sixth grade Glee Club members on risers arranged in a semicircle in the upper elementary school cafeteria facing rows of folding chairs filled with smiling parents in those pre-cell phone days when memories were entrusted to memory cells, instamatic cameras or clipped from the pages of the Kirksville Daily Express. I remember singing this song, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, and playing I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing on the soprano recorder. What I do not remember is whether there were any sixth graders not in Glee Club. Seems like it was a very large bunch.
Just for the record, I still have my recorder, and I still remember that tune.
